The cottage matched the website photos, and the bathroom was clean with plenty of hot water. Basic self-catering was possible too. There was no free Wi-Fi, but the time away from our phones turned out to be valuable, and good weather made the stay even more satisfying. This is a great place to unwind in nature, away from city noise, with both mountains and ocean to enjoy. We woke each morning to kookaburras, then watched cockatoos come to the balcony to eat. After breakfast, the kids headed straight outside for the tire swing and volleyball, explored the forest and saw lots of wildlife. The beach, grocery shop, cafés and pharmacy were all a convenient five-minute drive down the mountain road. In the evenings we played board games as a family and roasted marshmallows over a campfire. We’d definitely like to return. One extra note, the yabby dam wasn’t very well maintained, and there were hardly any yabbies.

The kids had a great time on the tyre swings and tight ropes, and we fed cockatoos from the balcony and saw a few wallabies go past. It’s about five minutes from Lorne’s main street. Our family of five really enjoyed the two-bedroom spa cottage and would happily stay again. There was plenty of firewood in a box on the veranda. It stayed dry through the rain on our first night, so we used it the next day for the outdoor fire pit, and for the inside fireplace too. The private fire pit was fantastic, with log seats ready to go, and the kids loved toasting marshmallows. The cottage also had electric blankets on every bed, a spa bath and a complete kitchen.

We had an amazing two-night stay and chose midweek because we wanted it quieter. The bush setting was perfect, with a beautiful woodheater, a stunning night sky and amazing wildlife. The accommodation was great, and we loved it.

We stayed in the Sunset Cottage - Otways and loved the feeling of being tucked away from the busy parts of life, even though Main Street is so close. After hiking, the shower and indoor fire were just right. The property is gorgeous, and seeing the wildlife, especially getting to feed the birds, was such a treat. We'd happily stay again.

Woke up to mist, cockatoos on the balcony and kookaburras laughing. I stayed one night in November in one of the tents, which had everything I needed, including a TV, kettle, hot shower and heater. The electric blankets kept the beds warm too. Getting the key from the lockbox made arrival easy, and checkout was just as simple. On my motorbike, the location worked fine, though Lorne is a short ride or drive away. Lorne is gorgeous, so this makes a lovely stop while exploring the Great Ocean Road. I really enjoyed my stay, thanks.
