Hinchinbrook Resorts

We stayed here a couple of years ago, arriving late afternoon for one night. After enjoying the view from the patio with a cold drink, we went inside in the early evening and found there was no TV remote, and the smoke detector was hanging out of the ceiling without batteries. We tried several times to contact the owners, but got no reply to our messages, and the office was unattended. When we checked out the next morning, there wasn’t a real apology for the inconvenience or the apparent lack of concern for our safety. I told the owners I’d never return.

The unit was clean enough and well supplied, though it needed a deep clean at the end of the season. Check-in happens in a separate building across the road, by the park. It’s an easy walk to the boat ramp, bar/restaurant and convenience store, and there’s fuel at competitive prices. Excellent, happy staff add to the vibe. After a bit more travel around Queensland, I realised this place stands out and deserves the full five stars. Well run, and I highly recommend it for fishers, families, or Hinchinbrook trekkers. Everything you need.

The staff were friendly, helpful and obliging. Our clean “resort” bungalow was small and very basic, and watching TV at night was uncomfortable. Maybe some cabins could have the single bed in the kitchen area replaced with a two-seater couch or a fold-out single bed, then be offered to couples. Such is life!

The staff are the best part, super helpful and friendly. I’ve stayed a few times and used the minibus airport transfer. The apartments are comfortable, and the pool is huge and lovely. The pub has a nice atmosphere, with very nice food and coffee. I highly recommend Hinchinbrook Resort.
