We planned on one night and ended up staying three because we just didn't want to leave. The hosts, Liv and Adrian, were so welcoming and accommodating, and nothing we asked for on arrival was a problem. We arrived later in the day, while there was still enough light to see the place. The original red brick heritage buildings have been beautifully maintained over the years, and our room was immaculate, restored with loads of detail and decorated to suit the bygone era. The bed and room were lovely, with cottage gardens, paths and roses along the way. There's a good-sized pool and BBQ facilities, so you can go out to eat or stay and enjoy the motel. The main St is just around the corner, within walking distance of shops, historic gold mines and beautiful buildings. The local Butcher's meat is to die for, and the takeaway shop, with a little speakeasy out the back, serves a bloody good hamburger and old-fashioned fish and chips. We found this gorgeous little town by accident and couldn't believe how beautiful it was, so we came back after a few days away for a couple of days to recover from our road trip. If you love history and have a bit of gold fever, Maldon and the Motel are a great base for seeing the goldfields and all their glory. Ten gold stars for our wonderful hosts. We'll be back soon. The cottage garden was delightful, with glorious spreading trees lit up in the evening, and there's a swimming pool too. Our BMC Leyland Car Club group of 20 booked out the motel for a two-night midweek holiday. Adrian cooked us a two-course buffet dinner, then we sat around the outdoor fireplace with the wood already stacked. We cleaned up after ourselves and came back the next day for leftovers. The period-style rooms were spotless, comfortable and had everything we needed. We also explored the surrounding area. We highly recommend it for couples or groups, and thank the owners for their hospitality and a thoroughly enjoyable stay.

The room gardens are lovely places to sit peacefully, and inside there's nice decor with antique pieces. It's a charming little motel just outside Maldon, though it may be a bit far to walk into town for dinner if you're older. Still, it's a lovely base for exploring the area, and we'd recommend it.

The rooms feel homely, unlike a typical motel room, and the furnishings are beautiful. We had a very comfortable stay, with lovely grounds and friendly staff. It's a gorgeous town too, and we'll stay again.
