BIG4 Whitsunday Islands Holiday Park

The rates were reasonable, and we had a great overnight stop in our caravan. It's a tidy, well-kept, dog-friendly park with clean amenities, friendly staff, and even cabins that allow dogs. Our pooch enjoyed the little off-leash area too. You can walk through the park to the airstrip cafe for coffee and breakfast, which was great. There was some noise from the nearby airstrip, but it didn't bother us much. We'd happily recommend it.

The bathrooms were clean and the site was quiet, with a handy bus route into town that takes about 10 minutes. The cafe at the airfield is a real gem for breakfast, and plane spotting could be fun since the runway is just beyond the fence. Flights start at 6:30, though it didn't affect us as we were already up. The grounds could use attention. The place feels dated, the gardens are neglected, and the kitchen area wasn't in good shape. A sign said it would be closed for deep cleaning on Tuesday, but it looked like it hadn't had a proper clean in months. With a tidy-up among the trees, this could be a lovely spot.

The Hanger Café next door was a handy place to grab food or coffee, and the hosts made us feel very welcome. We enjoyed the beautiful, leafy gardens, which are clearly well cared for. Our standard cabin was comfortable, although it showed its age and could use a refresh. I understand that work is already planned. We occasionally heard a plane from the nearby airport, but only briefly, so it didn't spoil the relaxing feel. We had a lovely stay at big 4 Whitsundays.

A nice place to stay, tucked away from the town's hustle and bustle. The cabins were clean and comfortable, and the big open areas gave pets plenty of room to run. There's also a large off-leash park, and pets don't cost extra. Great price.
