Apollo Bay Seal Apartments

There was no warning before workmen showed up on our balcony roof in the morning. We also heard noise from neighbours downstairs, and the Wi-Fi was completely unusable. The apartment felt like it was built from cardboard.

The apartment was clean, and we appreciated being able to check in early, but the noise and lack of soundproofing ruined our stay. We had a downstairs apartment and barely slept because of the very noisy upstairs neighbours. Their bathroom seemed to be directly above the master bedroom, and we could hear every little tinkle, flush, shower, and hair-drying session, sometimes until 1am. The loud talking and yelling only calmed down after we told them at 11pm that they were keeping the family awake. Before knocking on their door ourselves, we tried calling every number we could find, including the one on the reception door, to get help from management. Nobody answered. Management apologized the next morning and said their phone battery had died and they hoped things had settled, but they hadn’t. I wouldn’t have booked if I’d understood how the houses and apartments were split into upstairs and downstairs units. The single exterior photo on the booking page made me think they were just different-sized townhouses. I didn’t realize one unit was downstairs and one upstairs, or that booking the “house” meant getting both levels, connected by an open internal stairway door. Having the whole house would be better if you want to control the noise. I’m surprised there aren’t more reviews about this. I can see management replies to poor reviews, so what are the plans for noise control and soundproofing?

Seal Apartment was clean, tidy, and had everything we needed. It’s in a central spot, just about a three-minute walk from the beach, which was really convenient. A nice place to stay in Apollo bay, and I’d recommend it.

We had adjoining units 5 and 6, with air conditioning and warmers in the living areas and heated mattresses in the bedrooms. The town is only a ten-minute drive away, and there’s a reasonably well-stocked supermarket. We preferred making our own meals in the apartment kitchenettes instead of eating in town. Check-in and check-out were easy, with no unexpected hiccups, and our allocated parking space fit two mid-size cars. It was a pleasant stay.
