The outdoor area was the surprise for me. I got some laptop work done there during the hottest part of the day, and it stayed so cool. It had that comfortable, stylish city-cafe feel with a Territory twist. We always try to stop for sweet treats from the bakery when we drive through. They look so pretty, it’s hard to resist 😍 10/10, definitely recommend.

The bakery was doing a great trade, and the chunky steak pie was bloody nice, just quietly. I also grabbed hot chips, and the freshly baked bread rolls were pretty good too. Fuel was reasonably priced, and the place has just about anything else you might need, with plenty of extras. The staff were friendly and helpful.

That chunky steak pie is the best pie I’ve ever had. The coffee’s great too, and they have lovely fresh bread. There’s a fantastic shop attached, and it was clean with friendly staff.

The other hot food is really good too, and I’ve never been disappointed. The bakery goods are the best in the outback, well worth stopping at the Mataranka roadhouse for.

There’s fuel and a good range of fast food, plus this is a handy little general store for where it is. It has all sorts of surprises, from a genuine 'Crocodile' back scratcher to assorted car parts.
