Our company carried out more than $50,000 worth of professional cleaning services for South Yarra Hostel in good faith, but we still haven't been paid. We've spent months communicating and given multiple chances to resolve the issue. The owner, Aaron, has claimed to have legal representation, which is untrue. We're now taking formal legal action to recover the unpaid amount. We strongly advise service providers against doing business with this individual or South Yarra Hostel to avoid similar frustration and financial loss.

The price was fantastic, the Wi-Fi strong, and everything was clean. Staff responded quickly, and the hostel had a great vibe. Trams stop right outside, and the station is a five-minute walk away. It's about 20-25 minutes by tram to the centre of town, or a lovely 45-minute walk along the Yarra. I'd absolutely stay here again on my next Melbourne trip.

I first booked five nights after landing in Melbourne, planning to use the time to find a flat. Instead, I stayed around 3-4 months because I loved the place so much. The location's perfect for Chapel Street's restaurants and bars. It's just the right size to get to know people. During my stay it felt like one big family, and I made friends for life from all over the world. Aaron and his team made me feel welcome, and I'd love to return next time I'm in Melbourne.

Great value for the town. It's solid, though there's room to improve, so don't expect the Hilton. The other guests were friendly, if sometimes a bit noisy. Check-in was smooth, and being able to reach reception anytime was great. Thanks heaps.

This hostel is good value, and the shared areas were cleaned daily while we were there. At arrival there was some confusion about which room we'd been assigned, but Aaron at reception sorted it out quickly and the rest was fine. Some parts look dated and could use a refurb. That wouldn't put us off staying again in the future.
