Casey on princes Hostel

I’ve stayed here several times and would be happy to return. It’s an older motel with just the basics, but that was enough for my overnight stay. The price is fair, 9 out of 10.

At check-in, the staff member asked my employer whether I was a “weirdo” and said I didn’t look “trustworthy.” When I handed over my interstate driver’s licence, she said it wasn’t me. I let that go, went out for dinner, and got some food for the night. Then at 8pm on a Friday, as I pulled up in front of the room, she stopped me and said I couldn’t come in at that hour. Never again. I’ll do everything I can to shut this place down. It was all because I look like a typical Muslim male. To the owner: nobody mentioned any limit on how long I could stay or raised concerns about that. You still haven’t explained the rude judgements and comments from your staff member. Your delusions seem much more advanced than I first thought. After reading other reviews, I can see mine isn’t the only experience like this. Good luck.

We told the staff about all the problems. They listened and said they’d fix them, but didn’t seem very concerned, so I wouldn’t expect much on a future visit. The place felt insecure: neither the front door lock nor the window locks worked. We managed to secure the front door with a screwdriver, which was a small win. The room was very basic, and the second bedroom’s wall lights had no bulbs and didn’t work. Vinyl strips over the bathroom tiles seemed to cover missing tiles. One of the single-bed electric blankets also gave off a worrying burning smell.

We stayed one night to be near a wedding venue. The location is handy, beside a petrol station and opposite a shopping centre, and the service was great. Our room was nice and warm. The motel is quite old and probably needs renovating, but it was worth what we paid.
