Holiday Inn Express Melbourne Little Collins by IHG

I’d book here again next time. The rooms are clean, spacious and functional, with great city views. The breakfast buffet was excellent, though it got a bit crowded at times, and the gym and laundry room were useful extras. The hotel is in downtown, near Southern cross station and the trams.

The city centre location made sightseeing, markets and shopping easy to reach by public transport, especially on the free CBD trams. There are restaurants, cafes and shops within walking distance or a short drive, and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The whole family had a great stay in a room on one of the upper floors. Breakfast was included for adults and kids, with a set menu. We hadn’t checked before booking that the Express Holiday Inn’s lunch menu doesn’t include free kids’ meals with a paying adult, as it does at regular Holiday Inn hotels. The coin operated laundry and neat, clean gym are on the lower level. Guests can also park on three floors at a discounted rate.

The room had a comfortable queen bed and a pretty good view, and breakfast was decent and included. The staff were friendly and helpful. It’s handy for Southern Cross train station, the SkyBus terminal and several tram routes, with easy access to the airport, suburbs and city centre. Just know that the rooms aren’t soundproof, as we could clearly hear the next door conversation.

The buffet breakfast was included, and I especially liked the simple congee with chinese celery Chinese celery congee. It settled my stomach in the morning after eating so many different cuisines on our holiday. Our two queen bed room was spacious and comfortable for the family. Housekeeping came daily, changed the floor towels, emptied the rubbish bins and even tidied the beds. The Train Station and Light Rail Stations are around the corner, so it’s convenient to get around the city. We recommend this hotel and will come back!
