NRMA Merimbula Beach Holiday Resort

The kids loved the waterpark, and the park facilities were some of the best we’ve seen. Our safari tent was clean, comfortable and well set up. One gentle reminder for fellow travellers: canvas tents share sound surprisingly well. Our neighbours tested that out unintentionally and gave us quite a memorable late-night ‘nature experience’. Still a great park, and we’ll be back.

There’s a big range of accommodation here, and the park has plenty for kids, including a water park. We’ve tent camped on the dog-friendly powered site a couple of times and always enjoyed our stays. It’s in a great spot overlooking the water, with friendly, accommodating staff and very clean, tidy facilities. The camp kitchen and games room are great too. Definitely worth a visit. We’ll be back.

The water park and pool looked nice, and the amenities seemed good for families with kids. Our unpowered site, though, was uneven, mostly dirt with only the occasional blade of grass, and just a few metres from a busy road. The traffic noise went on constantly from 5am. Beach access was poor too, just a tiny stretch cut off by a creek. We left after one night of our three-night booking, but they wouldn’t refund the remaining two nights. We were happy to lose the money rather than stay any longer.

My biggest disappointment was the lack of recycling. More than half the huge park, including the pool, tennis court, camp kitchen and glamping areas, had no recycling bins or signs showing where to recycle. I raised it with the office, but nothing changed. The caravan sites were packed close together, and the heated pool felt freezing, as everyone agreed. It’s a great park for families and kids. NRMA should install large netted recycling areas and let local sporting and other communities benefit. Shame on you, NRMA. Please show some social responsibility.
