We went out on a nice Saturday night because we’d heard there was a band. We each had two beers, chatted, and put $200 through the pokies. Then the bar cut us off, which left us confused. We stepped outside, decided to come back in and hang out without drinking, but were kicked out anyway. We weren’t very drunk or acting antisocial. It felt like they wanted to remove a few blokes who were just enjoying themselves, maybe because an undercover cop was there. Either way, our night was ruined. If you go, watch out for the fun police. No smiling or laughing, apparently.

The showers were great and the staff were nice, but our stay in Room 4 at the Cornwall hotel had a lot of problems. There was a musty smell, and when I went to use the kettle I found sour milk that had been sitting in it for a while. The milk for our coffee and tea was off too. The mirror above the basin had no light, and it was very dusty. There were no meals served, and the breakfast packs were out of date. There were also far too many live pigeons around, and the dead ones need to be removed. It’s a damn shame, because the place could be much better.

The cleaner was amazing, keeping our room immaculate, and she was so polite and helpful. The other staff were lovely and helpful too. My wife and I returned to the Cornwall Hotel for our wedding anniversary, since she loves the pub and its ghosts. We had a great stay and would recommend it hands down. Food is very close, Drakes is nearby, and the bike hire is just down the road. 💕

Clean, tidy basic rooms in an old hotel, pretty much as you’d expect. The bathrooms and showers are shared. There’s no dining, but the atmosphere is good.
