It was my first visit to Buller in 30 years. My partner and I stayed two nights during the season with our 4-year-old. The rooms were comfortable and the location was nice and quiet, with a free shuttle from the front door to the village square that made getting around easy. Dinner at the restaurant was excellent, though quite expensive. The stay was reasonably good value for money, and we're planning to return next ski season.

The included breakfast started at 7:45am, but by 8am the popular things like eggs and pancakes had run out, and they didn't make more. Coffee was instant unless you paid extra for espresso. They did let us store our luggage both before and after the stay, which was useful. Our room was unusual, with a fold-down ladder to reach the upper floor. It was very affordable compared with other lodges, and came with a nice bathroom, beds, kettle, tea and coffee, extra blankets, and heaters. The lodge stairs were oddly designed. For the price, it was a good place to stay.
We had a great weekend at Duck Inn, and the staff made it especially enjoyable. Coco at the front desk answered all our questions with such positive energy. Everyone was kind and ready to help make the holiday go smoothly. The facilities were comfortable and peaceful, just right for relaxing after a day on the slopes, and the atmosphere felt really friendly. We'd definitely return to Mount Buller.
Having ski hire right at the accommodation made getting ready quick and easy, since all our gear was there and we didn't have to carry extra shoes and clothes back and forth. The ski storage room is conveniently on the ground floor, and the rooms were lovely and warm. It's on the shuttle bus route, so getting to the central area and back was easy. We'll certainly come back.
Booking a balcony room directly on the hotel's website outside peak season got us an amazing deal. The room was clean and well organized, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Our only small issue was that the heater didn't get very warm, though it wasn't a major problem for us. It's very convenient for the village, with Shuttle No. 6 just a short walk away. If you're carrying luggage, I'd suggest booking a ride-share to make getting there easier. A solid option for travelers watching their budget who still want comfort.
