We arrived at the park at the last minute, with no booking, and even before check-in time. Management were really friendly and did everything they could to fit us in. The place felt safe, and the facilities were clean and convenient. When we're back in Mt Isa, this is the only place we'll stay.

We were there off season, so we could choose our own site. The flat sites are a good size, and the magnesium pool was cool and refreshing. The facilities are old but very clean. It's a great park just outside town, and reception were really friendly and helpful with booking tours.

If you care about getting sleep, I wouldn't stay here. There was constant barking from a nearby dog kennel day and night, plus noise from the busy road and planes overhead. The dogs at the house beside our site barked and fought around the clock, and got aggressive when we went near the fence. That's not the park's fault, but there was no security in or out of the park either. The old facilities could use a good clean, and it was a bit pricey.

We paid $45 a night for power and water with G’day membership. The park has large, level sites, clean and functional, though a bit tired, amenities, a magnesium pool, a community herb garden and welcoming staff. We felt secure there, and it's about a 2km walk to the cbd. There's a courtesy bus to the Irish club, which is handy. Try to avoid camping near the permi next to site 44. He played the radio or TV very loudly, once all night and again extremely early in the morning 😩.

We'd booked two nights months ahead in our camper while visiting Mt Isa for our last two QLD music trails functions. On arrival, we were told to choose a spot in the middle of the park between the numbers given, with a few other vehicles joining us. A car was blocking the no-parking area, which made it hard to get in. After we picked a place, three other caravans and cars joined us, and we had to maneuver around. Then we found out we had no power or water, even though we'd paid for both. We moved near a donga and managed to connect to a power point on its back, but still had no water. We didn't go sightseeing because we worried we might lose our spot if we drove out. Luckily, couples we'd met on the trail gave us lifts to the functions. The Sunset was so full, but walking around we saw a few places where our van could have fitted. People commented on how tightly packed we were, and friends who'd booked only a couple of days earlier got a good spot. We'd spent a month travelling West QLD, and this was the first time we hadn't been given an actual site. In a campervan, when you have to pack up each time you go somewhere, it's nice to know you'll have a spot to return to.
