Lake Talbot Tourist Park made for a perfect caravan stay, with a tidy location and cheerful, excellent service as an added bonus. For us travelling with a caravan, a flat site with a little power and water is all we need, and the park has that and more. Bravo!

We camped beside Lake Talbot, where the water keeps moving instead of sitting stagnant, so it's ideal for swimming and jet skiing. The lake is also right by Lake Talbot water park, a great, inexpensive place to go when it's hot. My family stumbled across this little spot and we weren't disappointed, even though we only stayed one day. We didn't see the rooms, but the outside looked well kept. The facilities were very clean, unlike many other campgrounds, and the showers had good pressure and hot water.

It's a decent park, with green lawns, fairly new amenities and drive-through sites that have concrete caravan pads with lush grass beside them. But the sites are narrow, so your awning ends up just inches from the neighbour's. The pads aren't level, and pegs aren't allowed. Unless your spot has a railing, there's no practical way to secure an awning properly. We were frustrated by how our site was allocated. Staff initially helped arrange a site beside our family, and we had clear verbal confirmation at booking for site 98. That wasn't recorded, though, so on arrival we were put elsewhere. Reception gave us two explanations that didn't line up, including that our site number wasn't confirmed, even though the booking email clearly listed site 98. If we'd been told before we arrived, it would've saved a lot of frustration. The park itself is decent, but our experience wasn't as positive as we'd hoped.

We found the cabin under-equipped and poorly maintained, and wouldn't recommend it for anyone expecting a proper cooking setup. It was advertised as having a full kitchen, but there was only an electric frypan and very limited cooking equipment. The dishes weren't clean when we arrived, although guests have to wash and dry them before leaving. We had to clean everything first, and one tea towel made that difficult. There was no soap, body wash or shampoo either, which felt odd for cabin accommodation. Towels for the water park next door weren't provided, and even hire towels would've helped. When we asked reception for the Wi-Fi password, neither staff member knew it, so we had to go back to the cabin and find it on a printed sheet. The outdoor chair was badly rusted and broken. The electric blankets didn't appear to be tagged and tested, so we chose not to use them. We stayed in a two-bedroom cabin at Lake Talbot Caravan Park, and it didn't live up to expectations. If you're just passing through, you might want to keep going further along your journey.

The park is dog friendly and right beside picturesque Lake Talbot. We only stayed one night each time, but it seemed like a longer visit would be really enjoyable and give us a good chance to explore the area. We'll be back! We stopped at Lake Talbot Tourist Park on our trip to and from Queensland. After a long drive, pulling into a fully level concrete drive-through site and settling in for a restful evening without unhitching was such a delight. The grassy space under the awning was perfect for relaxing with a drink.
