A clean room with the usual basics, just right when you want to get off the highway, sleep, and get back on the road. There aren’t many amenities that I can remember, but pizza and fish and chips were an easy walk away, and there’s a Foodland next door. Fresh water for the jug and milk, and I was set.

I’ve travelled between Brisbane and Melbourne for years and used to stay here regularly. Pete and Anna, the previous operators, always went out of their way to help. Since the motel changed hands, this is my second visit, and I’d hoped the problems I noticed last time were a one-off. They weren’t. The warm welcome and personal touch are gone, and the person running it now seems not to care whether guests stay or not. The linen was clean, but the rest of the room wasn’t. The fridge was mouldy and unplugged, with off milk inside. The kettle and shower were mouldy too, and the shower had soap scum all over it. I used to look forward to arriving to a pre-cooled room in summer or a pre-heated one in Narrandera. People who travel the Newell Highway know how extreme the weather can get. Now you can expect a stale, musty room and just hope the fridge, kettle, and shower are clean. I told the person at reception, but they weren’t interested in hearing about it.

Manager Rony was very friendly, and the hospitality was pleasant. My room was clean and full of natural light. I’d definitely suggest this place to anyone looking for good value.

The room smelled bad, the carpet was stained, and traffic noise was a problem. It was antiquated and needs a complete upgrade. I stayed at another place in Goondawindi for $20 more, and the difference was like chalk and cheese. Very poor, but there was nothing else when I arrived.

Country Roads Motor i is clean and quiet, and it’s well managed. Manager Rony was friendly and professional, and made us feel welcome and comfortable. A nice place to stay. Thank you so much. 😊😊
