The place sounded promising, but it’s old, run down, and didn’t feel clean at all. We were told it was self-contained, but I had to wash everything before using it because it was clear the previous guests hadn’t. I booked two nights and wish I hadn’t. I chose the spa room so I could hike and have a soak, but the hot water ran out before the bath was even a third full. No spa, and no shower until the hot water was back. There were huge mosquitoes everywhere and no fly screen on the door, so we had to keep it shut. The loft window was dirty, and all I could see through it was tree branches. The heater next door rattled the roof every few minutes. I was also interested because it was dog-friendly, but the dogs only had a 2-by-2-metre patch of grass to toilet or roam in, and it wasn’t fenced. We’re currently staying here.

We loved the Mudbrick cottage and would definitely come back. It was cosy, and the fireplace was already going when we arrived. The place is pet-friendly too, and our dog enjoyed the space as much as we did.

Everything was clean and just right, honestly. The mudbrick cottage had a great spa bath, and there’s lovely nature nearby. It was a blissful, charming little trip to unwind after lockdown. I loved my time here.

The surroundings were beautiful, and the bed and lounge were comfy. The kitchen had everything we needed. It got a little cold at night, so you do need to keep the firewood topped up.
