Hotel Jesmond

The food at Jesmond Hotel was genuinely delicious. We loved the pizza, chicken fried burger and kids burger cheese, so compliments to the kitchen. The service was the letdown. We only have one child and had no reason to order two kids meals, but an extra kids chicken schnitzel arrived. When we asked about it, the waitress pointed to the receipt and blamed my husband without checking properly or talking it through with us. She then walked away and carried on working, with no apology or attempt to sort it out. We only spoke with her again when my husband asked the kitchen staff for a takeaway container. Mistakes happen, but friendly service and clear communication matter. It's a shame, because the meal itself was so good.

Those chat potatoes were just like something a grandma would make, and I'm glad the young lady working at the kitchen suggested them over chips. The staff were great too. The burger was one of the best I've ever had, and the food here really impressed me. Excellent pub.

The shared bathrooms worked out fine, with one always available and kept clean and stocked. Our rooms suited what we needed too, and we'd come back. It was good value, with food and shopping options nearby and Newcastle close by. We'd driven down from North Brissy to drop off one of our daughters for a job and needed somewhere to stay for the night. We ate both lunch and dinner at the hotel. Lunch was prawn and marg pizzas, both hit the spot even though we're pretty particular about pizza, and the side salad was so good I had it again at dinner. For dinner we had burgers, chicken wings, arancini balls and salad. Really good.

I was sure my Visa gift card was gone, and had resigned myself to losing it. I'd called the Hotel the night before and no one had turned it in. When I called again the next morning, a lovely girl took my details and said she'd call if it turned up. About an hour later she rang. She'd gone looking and found it. To the lovely blonde girl whose name I didn't get, thank you so much. You're an incredibly kind and caring person, and I'm so grateful. 🫶🙏
