The dams and towering bamboo were lovely to wander beside, or just sit near with a book. We stayed at Mescal's after the floods for a very peaceful long weekend. The house sits on 10 acres of garden and feels especially quiet when the other two suites are empty. Dinner takes a little planning: Pampoolah is fractionally closer to Taree than Old Bar, and the two Thai restaurants in Old Bar can have long waits on Saturday nights. A good spot for a quiet, low-key break from Sydney.

The twin king single beds were the most comfortable we've slept in. The room's bathroom is huge and fully accessible for someone using a wheelchair or walker, and parking was easy. The property is lovely, tucked away in a gorgeous, quiet spot, and the hosts were very welcoming.

We could take our time over breakfast, either outside beneath the amazing Wisteria or in the spacious dining room. Mescal and Rob made us feel extremely welcome and couldn't do enough for us during our three days at Mescals at Pampoolah. The property is beautiful, with gorgeous gardens to wander around, and the location gives easy access to town, country and beach. Our room was spacious and spotless, and the bathroom immaculate, with both a shower and bath. I'd highly recommend Mescals for a relaxing break.

The alfresco area under the wisteria was the highlight for me. Mescal and Rod are such a lovely couple, and the place is spotlessly clean. Breakfast was nicely cooked and right on time. I can't really put into words how lovely it is. Definitely recommend checking it out!

We were only stopping for one night on the way to Brisbane, and I'm so glad we did. The accommodation and food were fantastic, the hosts were lovely, and it's nice and close to the highway. Highly recommend!
