Motel Strahan

I had a good stay, though I’m torn between three and four stars, especially for the price. The service was great, the rooms were huge with plenty of storage, and the TV, fridge and air conditioning all worked well. The linens were clean, and the bed and pillows were comfortable. But parts of the bathroom were showing their age: there was rust around the toilet paper holder and staining or rust in the sink. The towels were stained too, and not just with bleach. After every flush, the toilet kept draining for 15-20 minutes. At 30-40 AUD less, four stars would be an easy call and the aging rooms and stained towels would be easier to accept.

The management had switched the heating on before we arrived, so the room was lovely and warm even though the weather was quite cold. It was clean and well appointed, and having laundry on site was very convenient. Nice motel in Strahan, handy to everything.

The staff were welcoming and friendly, and the spacious rooms were nicely presented, with lots of storage and bench space. I liked the sliding door out to a small patio, it made the room feel more like home. Laundry facilities were a bonus while travelling interstate, but at $8 for a wash and dry, I’d expect cleaner machines. They were full of dust, and a simple weekly clean would make them much nicer for guests. A bit pricey, but still a nice stay.

The rooms were clean and peaceful, and the motel is self-contained, so it works well for a small group staying a while. There’s a fridge and cupboards, but no proper kitchen in the rooms. The only sink is in the bathroom.
