We booked through Wotif for generations of Jazz at Mt Gambier, where my daughter was playing. When we arrived at 3pm, there were no access codes. We emailed and called the owner several times but got no reply, and couldn't get in. With no other accommodation available and the evening getting late, we drove 1.5 hrs to Kingston to avoid sleeping in the car. Jen, the owner, finally called at 8:30pm and said the app wasn't working, but didn't offer full compensation. We've been trying to sort it out with the app company VRBO, and after three weeks still had no refund. Jen W. was completely useless and unreachable when the problem came up. A full refund would have been the right thing to offer, but she didn't. I highly recommend not staying here.

Our group was made up of all sorts of people, and we all found the cottage a delightful place to spend a week.

We had a very pleasant stay in this comfortable cottage, which has recently been renovated and upgraded with Wifi. Penola's offerings are just a few metres' walk away, and Coonawarra is only 7 kms away. We also enjoyed being able to take day trips to Mt Gambier or Robe. After a day out, lighting the open fire and enjoying the local wines and produce we'd bought over a game of chess was a treat. We'd love to return and explore more.

My husband and I were after a getaway and found this wonderful place. It had everything we thought we needed, plus plenty of extras we hadn't considered. The layout was gorgeous, and all the little touches made it feel all inclusive. We’d highly recommend it. Because of COVID19, Chardonnay Lodge supplied dinner for us. The lasagna was the best we've ever had. We finished the evening with gorgeous port and a wood fire, and can't wait to stay again.

Our two days and three nights in Penola were far from ordinary. Sarah's Cottage gave us cosy, delightful accommodation and added so much to our chance to enjoy Penola's colonial splendour. Leolla went the extra mile to make our visit feel special, from the spotless, well appointed cottage to the homemade fresh bread waiting for us on arrival. Breakfast on the back verandah, looking out over the cottage garden, was one of many highlights. There are so many curios, fittings and decorations inside that you could easily spend half a day noticing them all. Sarah's Cottage is comfortable and affordable, a real jewel in historic Penola's crown. I wouldn't consider staying anywhere else when visiting.
