Indian Ocean Hotel

The only good part of this overpriced, old venue was the food at their Street Eats eatery. It was tasty, reasonably priced and came in generous serves. The hallways and rooms have old, faded 60s-style carpet, and the bathroom still has a plastic shower curtain like something left over from the 60s. It’s cashless, so you have to use a card, then management adds a surcharge for paying that way. They want their cake and to eat it too. Not good value.

The noise was the main problem for us. There was loud, thumping music every night, and on some nights it carried on until midnight. The Indian Ocean Hotel is known for live events, but if you book well in advance, event details may not yet be available, so the noise isn’t always clear when you reserve. We wanted peaceful evenings, so it wasn’t our scene and we won’t be back. If nightlife and live music are what you’re after, it could suit you. The location is amazing, just a short walk to the beach and town centre. The spa and pool were a real highlight and very enjoyable. The rooms are dated, but reasonably clean and comfortable enough for a short stay.

My fiance booked us in for a few nights while I was visiting from America. Being so close to the beach and having the amenities nearby made for a lovely time. I’ve been to Las Vegas many times, and this place reminded me of it. The staff made the stay even better, they were kind, helpful and so accommodating. Thanks for a lovely experience!

Pros: close to the beach, nice staff, and a nice vibe. Cons: no customer service or room service. The pool is about the size of a backyard pool, the rooms are smaller than an eggshell, and there’s barely room in the bathrooms for everyday items. Hardly any power points either. The balcony I had stayed on had a large crack where a baby could fall through. For this kind of hotel, I’m shocked by how it turned out. I’ll never come back. Only come if you enjoy spending money on nothing.
