This lovely country cottage sits on a beautiful acreage property, tucked away from everything. The wraparound veranda and large alfresco barbecue area are great, and the house comfortably sleeps six adults and two children. Timber covers the walls and ceiling, there’s a wood fireplace for the cold seasons, two bathrooms, and a decent-sized kitchen. A lovely place for a break with friends. I almost wanted to keep it a secret.

A beautiful, comfortably equipped cottage in a quiet, secluded spot. Kangaroos are out in the paddock in the mornings and evenings.

The accommodation was clean and tidy, and the air conditioning kept the house cool even in 38-degree weather. It’s conveniently close to some of the Hunter’s best wineries. One thing to know: during the height of summer, when it was very humid, we had trouble with ticks under the barbecue area, so bring tropical-strength Aerogard.
