Atoll Close Port Douglas Holiday House

Tall greenery to the east gives the house a cool, pleasantly green setting. It's in a quiet cul-de-sac without through traffic, an easy drive to central Port Douglas and the fabulous Marina, and a short walk to Four Mile Beach. A very pleasant place to stay, with a large, stylish modern house, spacious bedrooms and several bathrooms. The kitchen is fully equipped, there are indoor and outdoor dining and living spaces, and it has a good pool and BBQ.

We found many better places to stay around Port Douglas. The owner lives in Sydney and almost never responds when you call, so if something goes wrong you're on your own. The house is listed as four bedrooms, but most rooms are locked unless you've booked for a large group, so you can't use them to store luggage. The clothes dryer didn't work, and the pool was leafy. If you stay here, I hope you like ants. Also, don't book direct. The owner replied to my review. If your stay falls short of what other reviewers describe because you had a poor experience, expect to be gaslit and told you can't read a simple instruction book or that you're unreasonable about a property overrun with ants. I left out many other serious problems to go easy on this person, but I hope your experience is better. Do you feel lucky? If we'd booked through an agency like AirBnB, an experience like ours would have resulted in a significant rebate. I regret not using one. And the beach isn't just a stroll away, as some reviews claim. We thought it was far too far for small kids to walk.

The property was clean and well kept throughout our week there, with lots of space. It's in an excellent location, a short walk from the beach and with easy access to town and all the amenities. Highly recommend.

The house was roomy and spotless, and the pool was a lovely temperature. We were so close to the beach. I'd happily stay again.
