Shantara Resort Port Douglas - Adults Only Retreat

I stayed five nights, from 12th to 17th October, in studio swim out apartment 8B, which was just the right size for me. The pool was a perfect temperature, and I swam every day, slipping straight in from my private deck with its lounger and steps into the water. The shaded balcony had a table and chairs, so I could sit outside comfortably even when the sun reached my side. A lovely bottle of sparkling was waiting in the fridge, and the dinner voucher for Watergate restaurant was a treat, with really enjoyable food and great cocktails. Reception was so friendly, and the pre-arrival emails with dining and activity tips were helpful. I could walk everywhere, including the main shopping and eating strip and the wharf for water trips. They also provide plenty of large white bathroom towels and extra pool towels. It was peaceful, and I loved my stay. Special thanks to Caitlyn, my main contact at reception. I'd definitely return and have already told my friends who prefer adults-only resorts.

So peaceful and relaxing here, and the hamper was awesome! The place was extremely clean and in a great spot. Caitlyn and Kevin were so friendly and helpful, nothing we asked was too small. Would absolutely recommend it and come back 😊

It’s an easy walk, about 4-5 minutes, to the beach and main street, with other amenities close by too. The reception team were always ready to help with whatever we needed. Our room was well equipped and looked over one of the two pools. There’s a good gym and spa treatments can be arranged on request. We had a wonderful time and would definitely return.

Those two pool areas were a lovely place to unwind after busy days exploring the area. They’re quiet, shady and relaxing. We spent six nights at the Shantara Resort, about a 10-minute walk from town, and found the preferred restaurant list they provide useful. Our room had plenty of space for all our luggage, which was handy since we’re travelling for a few months, and everything we needed for a comfortable stay.
