Discovery Parks - Port Hedland

The camp kitchen was well equipped, and there's a small playground for kids, which is a bonus. The facilities are okay but could be better, and it's a short walk to the beach. Watch out for the jellyfish 🪼. The park was noisy at night from the industrial area. Compared with the other Discovery parks we visited on our lap, this wasn't the best one. Streets and sites are narrow. We had a camper trailer and managed, but a large caravan would be hard to manoeuvre into a pitch, especially with someone parked opposite.

The staff are friendly, and the park has lovely beach views. Some cabins are older style, but there are newer ones too, and those make for a lovely stay. A great place to stay.

Before Discovery took over, this park used to be great. The team would come to your site and help guide you in, and they always provided local information. Now the office staff hand you a gate key and leave you to sort out your own site. It feels run down and impersonal.

I'm still waiting days later for a refund after cancelling at the Discovery Park in Port Hedland. They say it can't be approved locally and has to come from corporate or head office. The man behind the counter was rude and tried to charge me what I consider bullshit cleaning fees. They take your money quickly, then come up with what I see as bullshit and lies when they owe you a refund. I've used Discovery Parks in different parts of the country, but I've never had this much trouble with people who seem to judge how they treat you by how much money you're worth to the business. Where's the humanity these days?
