We stayed at Tea Tree Cottage for two nights in August 2025, near the end of winter. Seeing snow on the mountains from the windows was lovely. Wall radiators in both the bedroom and living room kept us warm. The cottage was comfortable overall, and we'd recommend it for a short stay. Joy was away on a trip to Hobart and couldn't meet us, but kept in touch to check that everything was going smoothly. The front door had a large crack letting in cold air, though it didn't seem to make the inside cold. We also found the cooking utensils, especially the frypan and plates, weren't clean. There was no starter supply of detergent or cleaning products, unlike at some other places, though there was a dishwasher and Joy had left dishwasher tabs. We were disappointed by the lack of complimentary milk and cleaning supplies, and the door needs repair. The large smart TV in the living room connected to the internet. The two side-by-side showers were great, with both overhead and wall-mounted fan heaters, which we used a lot. There was covered parking at the back and a well-equipped laundry with an LG washer and dryer. That was a relief after two weeks on the road. Queenstown doesn't have a lot to do, so two nights seemed about right. We mainly came for the Wilderness Train. Most things were closed when we arrived Friday and when we got back Saturday after the train ride. There are two IGAs, one more like an IGA Express and the other a full supermarket.

We stayed in the spacious Tea Tree unit, with two bedrooms and a lounge and kitchen. Check-in was quick and the place was very clean. It's one block from Queenstown's main street, close to food options and the West Coast Wilderness railway. A perfect stay!

Lovely place with lovely, friendly staff. The room was stuffy, though, and I would've given it four stars if not for the issues. There's no air conditioning or ceiling fan, and only one window opened, with no fly screen. The bathroom window was jammed shut. The kettle and toaster cords couldn't reach the power points, and there wasn't enough bench space.

Our host was warm and knew the area well. We stayed overnight in the comfortable, warm Blackwood room, and the bathroom was great, especially that incredible shower. We could leave the car there securely while we went on the train the next morning. A lovely stay.

We booked quite late, so the only room we got was Sassafras, though the bigger rooms looked much nicer. It was $180 a night and you have to book through their website directly. It's heritage accommodation, so don't expect anything especially modern or fancy. The room was clean and the bed really comfortable. There was a TV, mini fridge, basic cutlery, complimentary tea and coffee, and a toaster. The host kindly brought a microwave into the common area so we could heat our food. The shower facilities seemed newly renovated and were the best part. Bathrobes were available, and I loved how powerful the hairdryer was. We came in summer and there were quite a few flies around. The room was also a little dark. I think there's another room at a similar price with a full kitchen, and it's a lot nicer, so I'd recommend booking that one if it's available.
