Joanne was friendly and helpful, and the charming historic cottage is very well located. It's two independent cottages in one. Just remember an eye mask for the bedroom in the Armoury cottage: there's no curtain or shutter, unless you want to be up at 5am.

We stayed on side b of this quaint historic cottage. The kitchen was well appointed and the water pressure was good, but the furnishings could use an update. The sofa in the TV room was well past its use-by date, the bed sagged, and the bedside tables didn't work.

The cottage was dusty, and we found silverfish in the bed and bed bugs in the mattress. We ended up covered in bites. Smoke alarms were hanging empty from the ceiling, and the bathroom vent was hanging down too. The owner refused a refund and was rude, accusing us of bringing the bed bugs in on our clothes and putting them in the bed. Do not stay here!

We think this beautiful early sergeants cottage was built in 1823. The sergeant oversaw the convicts who built the bridge, which is still in use today. It's a fabulous, cosy little place with wood fire heating, and well positioned for trips to Coal River Valley wineries and other tourist attractions.

Gorgeous place to stay, with lovely port and chocolates. The property was home to the overseer of the historic Richmond bridge in 1823.
