Leichhardt Hotel

The wait staff were okay and seemed to be trying, but the young woman at the bar was the rudest person I’ve come across in a long while. Getting inside was a marathon too. The Denham St door was blocked off despite the entry sign, the front was blocked, and if you were walking there was no sign directing you to the opposite car park entrance. The meal was below average, dry, and questionable. The fish was badly overcooked, with oil coming out of the batter when I cut it. We had sticky finger food but no wet wipes, so I asked for something to clean our faces and hands. They said a chux would be good enough, since paper serviettes wouldn’t work. 2 out of 10.

For a couple of drinks, the atmosphere might be okay, but don’t expect much else. At about 2pm, around five staff were moving tables for 5.30pm bookings, yet the only tables available were dirty. One woman came out with her iPad to look at the tables every 10 minutes, then went back to the bar, but no one wiped them down. I waited five minutes for the bar tender to notice me. She had AirPods in and seemed busy with something, maybe uni homework, so I said excuse me and tried making some noise. She turned off her music to serve me, then went back to her phone and AirPods in the corner. I ordered a special deep fried chicken and steak, and when she asked if I wanted the chicken as an entree, I said yes. Both dishes arrived together. The chicken thighs were badly overcooked, though the seasoning was really nice. I asked for Diane sauce but got gravy. The steak vegetables tasted like frozen bagged veg thrown into a steamer, and the sweet chilli and cream sauce had a big lump of unmixed cream. To me, it felt like a bunch of kids working unsupervised who didn’t care about anything.

All our meals were spot on and absolutely delicious. A big thanks to the Head chef! The atmosphere was lovely, and the customer service was awesome. Everyone in Rockhampton should drop in 🙌🙌

We had a lovely time here as a family. The kids stayed entertained on the playground while we ate, and the outdoor seating was a relaxing place to sit on a sunny afternoon. The atmosphere feels warm and welcoming, the food is great, and the staff are so friendly and make you feel at home. Highly recommend Leichhardt Hotel in Rockhampton for families looking for good food and top-notch service.
