The rooms are clean and quiet, with standard furnishings and nice ducted air conditioning. A jug of complimentary water on arrival would have been great. Covered concrete parking would also make a big difference in the rain, so you wouldn’t have to walk through mud to get in or out of the car.

The bathroom didn’t feel safe to use because it was so unclean, as the photos show. My room hadn’t been cleaned properly when I arrived, and the facility overall clearly needs an upgrade. It was in much better shape on my previous stay. Renovation and proper maintenance are urgently needed. Something has to be done.

There were no security concerns in the end, but I still wonder why hotel staff would enter a room without knocking, whatever the official reason. After I checked in and was minding my own business, a staff member unlocked my door without knocking, then shut it straight away when he realized I was inside. When I asked what he was doing, he said he was checking whether I had concerns about the room. My colleagues had the same experience, so it wasn’t isolated.

The location was great, the place was very clean, and the restaurant was superb. I took a mark off because the bathroom needs updating. It still has an old tub and a half splash screen.

The bathroom door wouldn’t close, and the air conditioning never got cold enough for Rockhampton summer. Sleep was a problem too. The room doors don’t dampen sound, so whenever someone on the floor left their room, there was a loud thud through the whole floor. At 5:30 am, that’s annoying. This place is mutton dressed up as lamb.
