For several years we’ve been regulars at the Heritage, and the food and service have never let us down. There’s an exciting range of entrees and meals on the menu, and the bar service is always spectacular. Thanks to all the staff and management.

The eye fillets and rib fillet were cooked just right, with a decent mash alongside. Service was great, and it was quiet on a Tuesday. Thanks, that was an excellent steak!

The food was good, and so were the staff. Everything else was pretty grim. I paid $125 for a tiny room with bunks, shared facilities, no off street parking, and three flights of stairs to reach the accommodation. It was the only room left in town, and the park benches were already taken, so there you go. 🤷🏻 After using the bathroom, I felt dirtier than before my shower. There were marks on the toilet wall that looked like spit and cum, and a hole punched in another part of it. Seriously, avoid this place 😔😔😔

UPDATE 24/9/25: I still haven’t received the refund. I’ve contacted different people by phone and email, including Booking.com and the hotel, left messages, and had no call back. Booking.com is asking for a pin code we don’t have, and the whole thing feels super dodgy. In June 2025 I booked and paid $125 online for my mum to stay while travelling from the Sunshine Coast to visit me in Townsville. When she arrived, they said they didn’t have the room I’d booked. The online fee was refunded, but she had to pay extra for a more expensive family room. I think that was rude. They should block rooms that aren’t available, or upgrade guests when the website makes a mistake. I tried contacting the hotel, but couldn’t find contact details on its website. Mum said the place wasn’t great and she wouldn’t give it even one star. Her room was tiny, with a double bed, a single bed, table, two chairs, fridge, and only a small space to walk through. It was on the third floor with no elevator, at the far end of the hallway, and shared a bathroom and toilet. There was no water in the room, not even a cold jug in the fridge, so she had to fill the jug in the bathroom. The TV remote didn’t work, possibly because of the batteries. Signs told guests to put rubbish and 10c containers in bins at different spots down the hall, and leave wet towels in a bathroom bucket. The window was sealed shut, with the air conditioner at the bottom, so there was only one way out. She was glad there wasn’t a fire. It made camping in a swag seem glamorous, and she wished she’d brought it.

Had dinner on Sunday, with the kitchen closing at 8.30pm. The staff were nice and it’s dog friendly, with some gluten free choices, but the food wasn’t great.
