With vineyards and plenty of restaurants, shops and attractions nearby, Madigan Cottages make a handy base in Hunter Valley. We also liked having Stomp Wines' cellar door right on the property for tastings without needing to go far. The setting in Lovedale is secluded and peaceful, with room for children to play. The cottages mix old-fashioned charm with modern comforts, including fully equipped kitchens, plush beds and private outdoor areas. A lovely option for couples or groups looking for a comfortable countryside break.

Booking was easy, and the service we received was great. We loved how the cottages were laid out for us, and Madigan's location was just right, tucked away while still close to everything. We had an amazing weekend and will definitely come back.

We stayed in Homestead, the largest cottage, and had a great time. There are four roomy bedrooms, a spacious living area and a good kitchen. The BBQ area was great too, and walking around the property in the morning was fantastic. It's a lovely place for a Hunter Valley holiday, and we may book again. The one problem was the dishwasher, which smelled extremely bad, so we couldn't use it. Nothing else gave us trouble.

The barn was lovely, and having the cellar door right there was a bonus. It's well positioned, and I'd stay again. One suggestion: planting more trees around the barn might help, as it feels a bit exposed to traffic over the paddock. The other cottages are in a more wooded setting.

Hunter Valley has loads to explore, and this was a great place to stay. The only issue was that one bedroom was on the landing without a door, so light from downstairs came through and disturbed the person sleeping there.
