Wine Village Motor Inn

We’ve been regular visitors to Rutherglen but only tried the wine village last weekend. Check-in was easy, and Max was super friendly. The rooms were spotless, the shower was great, and the bed was one of the best I’ve slept in across Australia and the world, which is saying a lot with my work. It was quiet and close to the main street. We’ll stay here every time we’re in the area. Samone

We stayed for a wedding weekend. The staff were friendly and our room was very clean. There’s a lovely outdoor area and swimming pool, a nice spot to sit with a coffee and enjoy the Autumn sun.

We spent three nights here while exploring the Rutherglen wine region. The room was very clean and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful. It’s an easy walk up the main street to the shops and pubs. I’d stay here again.

We had booked three nights for $798, from Jan 9th to Jan 12th 2026, so we could take part in the Rutherglen rowing regatta as we always do. With catastrophic fire conditions and road closures, we couldn’t travel up from Melbourne on Friday. Emergency Services Victoria advised against travelling. Later that day, Rowing Victoria cancelled the regatta because of worsening conditions, ongoing uncertainty and concern for emergency services personnel. When I asked to use the booking as a credit in the cooler winter months or the following year, I wasn’t offered one or a refund, despite the circumstances. There were three of us booked in. We won’t stay here in future, as our rowing friends received full refunds or credits from other Rutherglen hotels or Air B&Bs. Next year my friends and I will stay across the road at Tuileries De Bortoli Hotel. The owner/manager there was very understanding and gave my friend a full refund. Victoria’s premier declared a state of disaster late on Friday January 9th, giving authorities extra powers to order evacuations and control movement through dangerous areas. It was very disappointing and somewhat disturbing when the owner/manager of the Wine Village Motor Inn just said, "We've heard nothing about fires" !!!!
