NRMA Shellharbour Beachside Holiday Park

For a lower-priced park, this is good value, and it's only about a 500m walk to town. The van sites were a reasonable size, though some were quite difficult to get into; they had grass or some concrete. The common facilities were clean and well kept, and NRMA Shellharbour is well situated. I'd recommend it to travellers.

The beach access was lovely, and we enjoyed being so close to the shore, but our site became a cut-through for kids heading to the sand. A marked walkway or clearer access point would give beachfront guests more privacy. There also wasn't much for kids to do in the park, though that did get us exploring the area, which became a highlight. We stayed a few nights in our caravan at Shellharbour NRMA. The park was fairly quiet when we arrived, then got very busy over the weekend. Renovations and new sites are underway, and some layouts looked tight, with poles and vans close together. I'm not sure how easily larger setups will be able to manoeuvre once the work is finished. The biggest letdown was the bathrooms. They didn't seem to be cleaned while we were there, and toilet paper, sand, and water were left scattered about. That was disappointing compared with other parks we've stayed at. The location is beautiful, but better bathroom cleaning and general upkeep would improve the stay. We enjoyed the beach, though we'd hope to see some upgrades before returning.

The view and location were great, and the sites were a good size, though still a bit difficult to get into. The amenities were clean and mostly in good shape. But over our last two days the bins overflowed, and the smell got so bad we had to close up our camper. It was a miserable end to the holiday.

I felt very safe travelling alone, and with no car, I appreciated how many facilities were within walking distance. The cabin was super clean and well maintained, and came with extras I hadn't expected, including an iron, hairdryer, toiletries, and spare blankets. Park management also sorted a small sliding door problem promptly. Highly recommend.
