The room was small but neat and well kept. The bigger issue was that I only found out on arrival that Mantra Shepparton was still under construction and reception had restricted hours. Nothing on the Accor website or app had mentioned either. Parking was tight at first, so I left the car on the street before finding the overflow parking. The usual Accor Platinum amenities weren’t available, and there was no bottled water in the room. With reception closed, I couldn’t get filtered or bottled water there either. The fridge didn’t seem to cool properly, and things left in it overnight weren’t cold by morning, which could be a problem for anyone storing medication. It’s a decent hotel, but in its current state it wasn’t worth what I paid. I know prices depend on supply and demand, but I’ve stayed at better places for less, and the missing Accor status benefits made the value worse. I’d consider returning when it’s fully operating, and hope the rates are reviewed. At this stage, I think $120 to $150 a night would be more appropriate. To be clear, my point is that it isn’t good value right now, and I hope that changes.

The receptionist wasn’t helpful and explained very little about the room or hotel. The place may be new, but basic facilities and practical details were missing, along with in-room amenities and service. There was only instant coffee and black tea, in the tiniest cups, and no bathroom toiletries such as a shower cap. The coffee machine in reception is unavailable from 7 pm to 9 am. The exhaust fans were loud.

We were cramped in a tiny room, which was really upsetting because I’d booked a larger one to get ready for my wedding. The room photos make it look much bigger than it is, and the frosted windows mean there’s nothing to look at. Housekeeping needs attention too, there was a random child’s dummy under the bed. The reception staff need work as well. Parking is very tight, especially with a large car. I wouldn’t recommend staying here for a special occasion.

We stayed two nights and expected the beds to be made, but only the towels were replaced. The cups and bowls were so small that we bought our own. Parking was ridiculous, really tight, and the area should be one way.
