Quality Hotel Parklake Shepparton

Cashe, Dakota and the team made our son's 18th birthday night special. They sorted out our family's needs, including disabled lifts and ramps, with no fuss. The food was lovely and they accommodated dietary restrictions; drink service was excellent and always with a smile. We're still getting compliments about the venue and staff. Thanks, Cashe and Parklake team, for a night that was a cut above.

The pool was a hit with the kids, though there were only about four or five sunbeds, so a few more would be good. We had a good first stay overall, and the quick check-in and check-out were easy. The room and bed were clean, and the hotel is close to the central strip, across from a lovely park with a playground. There's a pool too. We were in room C41. The bathroom sink made a loud gurgling noise in the middle of the night, then did it again every few hours. At first we thought it was outside, partly because the walls are thin, but it was the bathroom. The park view was lovely, but on the long weekend there were cars hooning down the main strip after midnight and people talking loudly, both clearly audible in the room. Then around 5AM, a bird in the tree right outside our window chirped nonstop for an hour while I was already having a restless night. That's not the hotel's fault, but next time I'd consider a room away from the tree and main road.

Danielle in the restaurant was exceptional with her customer service. I can't fault her and hope she's our waitress if we come back. The girls were very friendly at check-in, though the man was terse when he told us about a $200 security deposit, which we had never been told about beforehand. At checkout, they said we couldn't get it back until the rooms had been cleaned after 10am, another detail not mentioned earlier. The TV didn't work at first, but staff fixed it. The phone in our room also didn't work, so I couldn't call reception.

The staff made our visit to Parklake Hotel. Everyone we met, including the maids in the morning, was delightful, professional and took pride in their work. The receptionist handled check-in smoothly even though the booking was under my daughter's name. She came out to where I'd parked tentatively, showed us our room and where to park and find the pool, and took the time to greet my wife in the car. My wife and I are already considering another stay in Shepparton. The restaurant was busy and lively, with polite, hospitable waitresses and a live band that added to the night. The food prices seemed high, though. The menu was basic and had a lot of unnecessary wording. Cauliflower and rice don't need a thesaurus treatment and a $41 price tag. A seniors menu or half-size meals would help. The pool area looked nice, but its furniture seemed cheap, tacky and thoughtlessly chosen. Also, the front desk staff member seemed to be eating when I arrived and apologized, saying staff don't have a room to use. It's pretty poor for a workplace, especially a high-end hotel, not to provide one or seem to give staff proper breaks. Visitors are paying top dollar to stay and dine here. Management, your staff are the best thing about the place, and the reason we'll come back or recommend it.
