Tamworth City Motel

We paid $20 extra as a cleaning fee before I’d even seen the room, and the pet friendly room was really unpleasant. The bed rolled away, the cold tap at the bathroom sink didn’t work, and the windows rattled badly. The room smelled of cigarette smoke, with cigarette butts stuffed down the bathroom drain. My bare feet picked up dirt from the floor and left marks when I got into bed.

The room next door had a young homeless woman and her son, who were very loud at 11.30pm, and the trucks on the road were extremely noisy because the rooms are close to it. We paid $169 for a night and barely got to relax after an 11-hour drive, let alone sleep, with one aircon not working and the other roaring like a refrigerated truck all night. We couldn’t turn it off because the room would have been too hot. The bed was broken and slanted to one side, and my husband nearly fell out. Room 20 had a loose, sharp tile by the entrance that almost cut my foot in the middle of the night. The pool was dirty and its gate was locked, even though a swim would have been lovely after the drive. The TV remote didn’t work, so we called the after-hours number and staff came back to replace the batteries. They were helpful, but the new batteries didn’t improve things much. The place looks nothing like the website photos. Give it a big miss.

The room itself was tidy and clean, but the bathroom sink was blocked and there was no hot water. A sign said to run the water until it warmed up, but even after 20 minutes it stayed cold. Not great when you can’t take a hot shower in winter.

We stayed two nights. The first room was awful, dirty and clearly not cleaned properly, as the photos show. They moved me to another room, which was a little better, but not by much. The rooms look nothing like the pictures in the ad and are run down, with furniture that looks like it was picked up off a curb. I wouldn’t stay there again.
