Strahan Village

We liked the quiet overall, and the January price was good. Strahan is a lovely, quaint place, and our room had a nice view. With no air conditioning, the hot day was uncomfortable, although we appreciated the fan they supplied. On the terrace side the rooms are close together, so there wasn't much privacy and we could hear every conversation next door. Still, for our three days we could walk everywhere and get to everything we needed.

The room felt a little tired when we arrived, though it was comfortable. We later found a shortcut down to the waterfront through the bar and restaurant. There aren't many eateries or bars, but that was fine for a night or two. We had a delicious breakfast at the train station after walking around there, and the Heritage cruise later included a very nice dinner. There's also a very good IGA up the road.

The room was adequate for the price, and the bed was comfortable. The TV felt modern, while the bathroom seemed to have been made over more recently than the rest of the room. It does need a facelift. This isn't a four-star hotel, but it was fine.

Our upstairs apartment was clean and comfortable, and we appreciated the natural shower and bath products. There was a lift. Getting into town meant a downhill walk and some stairs, and the return uphill was harder, though you can drive down if needed. The view made it worthwhile, especially the spectacular sunset. The balcony could use more privacy, and we could hear neighbours stomping around and using foul language. That's not the hotel's fault. Still, a lovely place to stay, and I'd recommend it to anyone stopping in Strahan.
