Victoria Hotel - Strathalbyn

The team are always lovely, and the food is delicious. We recently had dinner and dessert here for our daughter's sixth birthday. They gave her a little box of lollies, and it made her feel so special. A wonderful family friendly pub. Thanks again to everyone at the Vic!

My chicken schnitzel was cooked but only lukewarm, and the chips were barely warm. It was obvious the meal had been sitting for a while. I took a bite and sent it back, but they put it in the fryer and brought me the same schnitzel again. I didn't eat, while my companion had their meal. I got my money back and a courtesy drink. It seemed like a good venue, but I wouldn't eat here again.

I've been here plenty of times and love the Vic Burger. If only they could bring back the Coopers Pale Ale. The speeding traffic outside is a problem, so I think I'll have my drinks at home and then come in for a burger.

15/01: Thanks for the message below and for calling to apologise about the problems we had. I appreciate that, as not every business would take the time to do it. We hope to come back sometime soon. We'd been to the Victoria a few times before and were always happy with it, but this visit was disappointing. My husband and I went with my parents. They ordered at the bar, while my husband used the QR code at the table. The orders went in close together, and we all got our garlic bread at the same time. Then my parents got their food, while we still hadn't received our drinks. Our son's nuggets came a while later, but our food and drinks still hadn't arrived. We asked about the drinks because our son wanted his sparkling water. We were told there were only two people at the bar and they'd bring them over as soon as they could. That didn't seem fair, as we'd ordered at least 30 minutes earlier. It felt like we'd have to wait until everyone queuing at the bar had been served, even though our order was in first. By the time our meal came, my parents had finished their food and drinks, and ours still hadn't arrived. After we asked again, the server went to get the drinks herself. We weren't offered anything to make up for the delay. The server said the docket had gone to the kitchen, which explained why the drinks hadn't arrived, but we weren't told why our food was so late when others at the same table got theirs 45 minutes earlier. It was especially poor as we'd paid extra because it was a public holiday. If there's a QR code ordering system, it needs to work. It clearly didn't for us that day.
