It was a fantastic stay, super child friendly, and right on Noosa River. The layout makes things feel really private, and we didn’t hear any noise from the river. The apartment furnishings are lovely, and the kitchen has everything you need. I’d request apartment 14. Being on the corner also means there’s a lovely breeze on the balcony.

The layout and location keep The Colonial high on our list. We’ve stayed in a riverfront three-bedroom unit, with a magnificent view of the river and all its activity, and family members have tried several two-bedroom units too. The two-bedroom apartments have big balconies looking over the pool and palm trees, and all the units share the same layout and kitchen. They’re roomy, and the ducted air conditioning handles summer well. The lagoon-style pool is huge, and the gated underground parking is reassuring when Queensland gets hail or storms. Each apartment is individually owned, so the furniture varies. Some are better furnished than others, but the basic setup is the same. We’d love proper block-out curtains or blinds in the bedrooms, as the morning sun wakes us. A larger freestanding bin would also suit a two or three-bedroom apartment better than a small bucket with a liner. Even with those drawbacks, the size, location, air conditioning and fans make it one of our favourite places.

The staff were really friendly, and the location was great. Our room was small, but it did the job. If you arrive after hours, a light above the reception sign would help you spot the entrance on the right when facing the hotel from the car park.

We had an easy check-in and would happily stay again. There are two cafes downstairs overlooking the water, and more cafes, restaurants and shops within an easy walk. Our unit faced the pool, which the kids were very happy with, and there are several BBQs for outdoor cooking. The balcony had lounge chairs as well as a table and dining chairs. Having laundry facilities in the second bathroom was handy, too.

We stayed in Unit 19 Colonial Resort Noosa and loved the views from its two north-east-facing balconies. The pool area is a real highlight, with a 25-metre pool, spa and BBQs. You’re right on the Noosa River, with restaurants and coffee shops just outside. It’s such a beautiful part of the world, and I can’t wait to return.
