Travellers rest Motor Inn

We paid over $310 for two rooms and left disappointed. There were no bedside lamps or phones, and the TVs in both rooms wouldn’t work without wifi. We couldn’t get the wifi sorted after several tries, and although reception was meant to be open for another 45 minutes, it had already closed. The woman I reached by phone said she’d call back after finding out what was happening, but she didn’t, and we had no TV that night. Reception was also closed and unattended when we checked out the next morning. We eventually spoke to someone who’d been folding washing, which was understandable, and raised everything then. We’d called several times about our concerns and were given different answers by different receptionists. Reception said management would pass on the complaint and contact us by Monday, but nobody did. We called Wednesday; the woman we spoke to didn’t know what we were talking about, said the manager was away until Thursday and that we’d hear Friday. Reception is closed again, and still nobody has contacted us. I don’t recommend staying here.

The location worked well for us, with the river close by and a straightforward walk through the car park to the Commercial Hotel. It was quiet, and the comfortable beds made for a good night's sleep. Our clean, well-kept room had what we needed for a relaxing visit, and the staff were welcoming and attentive throughout. The Traveller’s Rest Motor Inn was a great choice, and I’d recommend it to anyone after a pleasant, reliable place to stay.

The young hotel staff member, Thomas, was efficient and really on the ball. The hotel/pub right beside the motel is excellent, and the rooms are spacious. But public holidays seem like a bad time to book here: reception had no staff, the office was locked, and a phone call directed me to the pub next door. They did sort things out, but I had to change rooms even though I’d asked for a ground-floor one. The bed was quite hard, and there were only two flat pillows. There was no motel staff around or reachable, which was disappointing.

The location was handy, and although the rooms looked a little tired, they were comfortable. Renovation work began at 7:45am, with hammer drills echoing through the whole building. It may be better to wait until the work is finished before staying.
