The location is good, but the facilities and service left us disappointed. We booked a one-bedroom apartment and were told on arrival that we’d been “upgraded” to a two-bedroom one. For just the two of us, the extra room wasn’t useful. More importantly, the one-bedroom has central air conditioning, while our two-bedroom apartment had only an old unit in the living room. It switched off automatically after three hours and couldn’t cool the whole place properly. There was no proper air conditioning in the bedroom, so it was uncomfortable. Supplies were also very limited for our four-night stay. We got two sets of small shampoo bottles and a small box of tissues, plus only a little milk for two people. Once those ran out, we were told to buy replacements ourselves, which wasn’t what we expected from this kind of accommodation. We also had to take the rubbish to the bins ourselves every day and wash all used items before checkout. It felt more like a self-managed rental than serviced accommodation.
Liz, the manager, was so friendly from the moment we arrived until we left. Even when the kids locked us out of our room on the first day, she was wonderful. The room was clean, comfortable, and spacious enough for our family of four. Shops, the train station, and places to eat are all an easy walk away. We had a really good stay and would come back.
Liz welcomed my dog and me, and the rooms were clean and exactly what we needed. I felt safe and at home here. We had our own private balcony and ducted aircon, and the price was reasonable. When flooding closed the highway I needed to travel on, I couldn’t get home on the planned date, and they kindly extended our stay. Elan and Liz were both so helpful throughout. Oddly enough, once I got home I even missed the train sounds! HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
The clean apartment and its handy location are real positives. The train station is close, with a great choice of Korean and Chinese food within about 800m-2km. I enjoyed watching trains from the dining area and bedroom, even late at night. It felt a bit like living in a Japanese comic world. But the trains, especially the cargo ones, are loud and run almost constantly, so light sleepers should be ready for that. Jan, the caretaker, was friendly and helpful when we asked for assistance. The apartment itself was clean. Still, the supplies were barely enough for a stay longer than a night. For four nights and five days, the four small hotel-style bottles of shampoo, body wash, and conditioner were clearly insufficient. We asked Jan for more on day three and she kindly brought some, but without that we’d have had to buy our own. The kitchen was just as sparse, with only a few coffee and tea sachets, no drinking water, and too little dining cutlery. We ended up using disposable cutlery from the restaurants we bought food from. We had to buy large water bottles at nearby Coles & Woolworths. There are some practical problems with the building too. It’s a walk-up flat. We were lucky to be on the first floor, but the narrow stairs from the car park would make heavy luggage difficult. The car park itself is very narrow, and I wouldn’t advise it for new drivers or anyone with a large car. Street parking is an option, but needs to be factored in. There’s only one air conditioner, in the living room, and it blows straight at the sofa bed if you have a third guest. I imagine summer would be incredibly hot. Even during our spring stay, the nights felt very warm. The bathroom is tiny, especially the shower. After bathing, the whole floor gets wet and even the bath mat doesn’t help, so you’re stepping on water that doesn’t feel very clean. If you weigh around 90kg or more, there’s barely room to turn around in the shower, so you have to stand still. You could use the bathtub, but it doesn’t have a shower head. Elan, if the air conditioning were sorted and the flat had a more thoughtful supply of basics, like full-size toiletries, enough cutlery, and some drinking water to start with, it could be a great family staycation. The clean space and convenient location are a good base, but the details need attention to match the price and expected quality.
The place was clean and so convenient, just a few minutes on foot from lots of restaurants. When border restrictions changed abruptly and our flight was cancelled almost at the last minute, the accommodation, especially the lady in charge, helped arrange an extension to our stay. I’ll definitely return when I’m in Sydney. The train station is very close too. Train noise might disturb your sleep, though it didn’t bother me since I usually sleep deeply.
