Hotel 59

It was much better than I expected. I shared a two-bed room with a family member. The room was clean and warm, with lovely, sleek modern decor, and it’s right beside the train station.

I’d looked this place up beforehand, and the reviews lived up to it. George is a champion, the service is good, and the location is even better, right on the edge of Potts Point and the Cross. The room was better than I expected and surprisingly quiet for such a busy area. Good food spots are nearby too. I didn’t get to try the café downstairs this time, but maybe next time. It’s a good fit for me and fairly priced, so I’ll keep staying here.

The room I was given had a neighbour’s landing light shining in all night. I doubt the owner would bother changing the window covering to block it. The walls are thin, so hopefully your neighbours are quieter than mine were. The shower room is small, and although the hotel is near a metro station, you can feel it. I think I had bed bugs and asked for the sheets to be changed, but got an attitude. I wouldn’t stay here again.

George and his sister Katerina were friendly, helpful, and nice to deal with. My room was clean and cosy, with everything I needed, and the breakfast was really yummy. Katerina is a great cook, so there’s no need to go elsewhere for breakfast. Hotel 59 is easy to find and in a great spot, very close to the train station. I’ll definitely stay here again when I’m back in Sydney.
