The bed was comfortable, but its position against the wall meant one of us had to climb over the other to get out. There was no toilet roll holder, microwave or cooking facilities, and no smoke alarm. The curtains were coming apart and barely hanging in the middle.

The bed was good, the linen was clean when I arrived, and there was hot and cold running water. I didn't see any bugs like cockroaches. Still, the bad reviews are right. Unless the Motel is doing renovations, I'd call it a boarding house and put the price around $80. Luckily I'd read the latest reviews and brought cleaning products from the shops. That helped a lot.

Reception staff were friendly, and it's a 10 minute walk to Lidcombe train station with free parking. But the room was overpriced, tired and dirty. The sheets were clean, but there was dried urine on the toilet and floor, mould in the shower and on the screen, and the sink plug was broken, exposing a drain full of gunk and hair. There was rubbish under the sink cabinet, crumbs around the fridge, a shoe and dirt under the bed, and a random bag in the wardrobe. The fridge cupboard door was hanging off, there were punch holes in the bathroom door, and the bolt didn't line up with the front door. I told a staff member, who apologized, but the high price doesn't match the poor accommodation quality. Very disappointed.

The room smelled strongly of smoke, despite my booking request for a non-smoking room, and the front room I was given faced the road even though I’d asked for somewhere quiet. Traffic noise came straight in. The pictures online also don’t match the tired, basic room: paint peeling, mould in the bathroom, broken lights above the bed, and no shower drain cover, so anything dropped goes right down the drain. The towels were damp and smelled bad. The air conditioning and heating wouldn’t turn on, and there was no TV remote. Staff didn’t seem concerned about the remote, saying it had only broken that afternoon and that they’d get another the next day. We’ll see. I’d requested four pillows when booking and was first told there were none spare, but two appeared very quickly after I pointed out the request. It’s only just on the cheaper side for the area, and still not worth the service. I’d only stay again if I were desperate.
