Veriu Central Hotel

The staff made this stay for me. Everyone was welcoming and genuinely helpful, and they took care of things in a way that made the whole visit feel easy. I had a great time and would happily come back, including for a personal trip next time. Veriu Central has a lovely vintage character alongside modern facilities, and it was very clean. The Surry Hills location also worked perfectly for my business nearby and the great food options.

A big thank you to Natalia for making us feel so welcome. She was warm, kind, and helpful every time, and her lovely voice and great service added a lot to our stay. The hotel was clean and comfortable, and the location was great.

What really concerns me is the lack of security. In the middle of the night I woke up to a man in his underwear opening my door. He then left and went to his own room, but there was no explanation when I raised the incident with staff. An auxiliary lock would have helped me feel safer, and there wasn't one. The room itself also made a poor first impression: spiders on the ceiling, old food under the bed, and a generally grimy feel.

I spent a week at Veriu on my first trip to Sydney and had a really fun time. The room may be small depending on what you book, but it was worth it, and I liked coming back to a clean, well-made room most nights. The location is really good and the service was amazing. I'd recommend it if it's your first or second time in Sydney and you're travelling light.
