Pethers Rainforest Retreat

The setting among the rainforest, right in the heart of the forest, made for such a peaceful stay. Our room at Pethers Rainforest Retreat was spacious, private, spotless and very comfortable, perfect for unwinding. The staff were exceptionally friendly, welcoming and always happy to help, which made the visit even more enjoyable. We really enjoyed the amazing breakfast. Our only small suggestion is to add some egg options to the menu. We highly recommend the place and will definitely stay again when we're back in the area.

Waking up to birdsong and a view straight into the forest was a highlight. The beds were big and comfortable, and the spacious rooms felt clean and luxurious. There was wine and chocolate waiting in the fridge, too. The retreat has ten separate cabins tucked into the rainforest, linked by a covered walkway. Everyone we met on staff was friendly and helpful, and breakfast brought right to our door was delicious. We’d love to return when the restaurant is open for dinner. The dining room and fireplace look stunning, and we’re keen to try the tasting menu.

The tasting menu was a real highlight, with beautifully presented courses and excellent flavours. The restaurant felt private, with space between couples, and its huge windows looked out onto mesmerising rainforest. A big fire made the room lovely on a chilly evening, and all the staff we met were so warm. We were there for a birthday getaway, staying in a gorgeous, secluded cabin surrounded by rainforest. The dramatic windows made bird watching in the morning special, and the spa bath was wonderfully relaxing. A bottle of sparkling wine and chocolates in the fridge was a nice surprise. Breakfast baskets arrived each morning, and the banana bread was especially good. One thing the cabin could use is a bigger, more comfortable sofa. We wanted somewhere cosy to settle in during the rainstorms, which lasted our whole stay.

The dinner alone would bring me back. We’ve eaten at some highly rated restaurants, including The French Laundry, and this meal stood right alongside them for us. The lamb was some of the best I’ve tasted, and the red snapper was incredible. It was a five-course menu, balanced and carefully prepared from beginning to end, served in a beautiful space. I’d happily fly or drive here just to eat. We stayed two nights, and the setting felt intimate and special. The staff were all kind and amazing. The meal blew my wife and me away. I wish they could give it more stars.
