It’s only a short walk from the centre of Tamworth, which made the location handy. I stayed one night while passing through and was greeted with a smile and shown to my room. I was surprised by how large it was, with space for a round table and a couple of chairs. It was clean and comfortable, and I’ll stay again next time I’m in Tamworth.

The King room was clean and tidy, though the decor seems a bit dated. Maybe the other rooms have been renovated, I’m not sure. This end of town feels more commercial than retail, but it’s an easy walk into town and there’s a servo right next door.

The owner was extremely rude and cancelled my booking without even apologising. I’d booked with a receptionist and had all the confirmations, but when I spoke to the owner, he said he runs the property and makes the decisions. He said the booking wasn’t held because I hadn’t paid a deposit, even though I’d been told no deposit was needed. Very rude and ignorant.

We arrived at short notice and were welcomed with a smile. Nothing seemed to be a bother, and the hotel was clean and comfortable. There’s also a small BBQ area and pool that would be lovely in summer, though only a crazy person would use the pool in winter. It’s good value for the price, and I’d recommend it if you’re visiting family or friends or just passing through and need a bed or two.

The room at City Sider Motor Inn was clean and tidy, with comfortable beds. My wife and I were visiting Tamworth and walked up the road to the Services Club for the buffet.
