Town & Country Motor Inn

As a trusted and respected taxi service provider in Tamworth, I took an 80-year-old woman from Melbourne to the Town and Country Motor Inn. She was visiting her critically ill brother in hospital and used a walking aid due to mobility issues. She had booked a room for the whole week through booking.com, but after one night she left early the next morning when she was offered a room at the hospital so she could be by his bedside. She asked the motel management and owner for a partial refund on compassionate grounds. They refused, even though booking.com had agreed in writing to refund the remaining booking in full. Reception staff were dishonest, evasive and uncooperative. They claimed she had a 2pm late checkout, although she had left before 11am, and misrepresented how many nights she had booked and the amount due for refund. They showed no regard for her circumstances or mobility issues and seemed concerned only with keeping the full payment. The room was also unclean, with dead spiders under the sheets. This was a disgraceful display of deception and greed by the management and owner. If this is the standard of customer service being introduced into Tamworth by foreign ownership of local motel accommodation, I wouldn't recommend supporting such businesses. It was a terrible way to treat local Australians, especially someone vulnerable. I would not recommend this business.
