Midlands Motel

I spent six weeks at Midlands Motel in Taree and found it really comfortable. Les and Helen were wonderful hosts, always friendly and helpful, and made sure I was comfortable. The rooms were cosy and clean. Moving to a larger room with a view of the Manning River was a real treat, so peaceful to wake up to each morning. The town and major shops are conveniently close. I especially appreciated the little touches and kindness that made my stay welcoming and easy. Highly recommend Midlands Motel for a short visit or a longer placement.

We only needed a place to break up a 12-hour drive, and got the last room for $194. It was outdated, and I had doubts about the cleanliness. The cloth chairs, cushions, and bed runners were stained and filthy. There was a puddle in front of the fridge; when I reported it, someone mopped it up. We just wanted a good night's sleep, so we accepted it. The night got much worse. There was constant yelling and door banging from the next room, with smoking until 1 am and then again from 3:30 am. I reported it to the manager twice, but the guest ignored the requests to consider other guests. At midnight, when we asked for quiet ourselves, that person swore at us and yelled profanities repeatedly. I felt quite threatened. We'll never return.

The room smelled awful because water was leaking from the air conditioner and had left the carpet wet beside the bed. We had to sleep with the windows and door open to avoid the smell. They told us the air con didn't work, which we accepted, but left out the leak and wet carpet. The room should have been closed for repairs. I felt ripped off. It wasn't good, and the price was far too high. Buyer beware.

We were extremely happy with the spacious room, friendly service, and location during our one-night stay. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was great and nice and hot. We'll certainly stay again next time we're passing through Taree.
