Taree Lodge Motel

Our room was small, so we only brought in one duffle bag. It was clean, neat, and modernised, with tea and coffee on a shelf by the bed. The motel is on a busy road, but the traffic noise wasn’t irritating. The owner/manager showed us the room, then that was the end of the pleasantries. He came outside while we packed the car but didn’t even say good morning, apparently too busy changing the digital vacancy sign. There was an A4 notice in a plastic holder listing all sorts of ways the owner could claim compensation for any loss or damage, with the owner as the sole judge. At the bottom it offered useful kitchenware if we needed it. It gave the impression they weren’t keen on extra cleaning or service. We were self-catering and looked after our own dinner and breakfast. We wouldn’t stay again. There’s plenty of other accommodation in the area.

We ended up in Taree unexpectedly because of car trouble, and the owner/manager was helpful, showing us the room and suggesting places to eat. The motel is older style but very clean. The bathroom has been updated recently, with new shower tiles and taps. The bed and pillows were comfortable, and the linen was crisp and clean. I’d definitely stay again.

The manager was lively, and the bed was very comfortable. Everything was neat and clean. I couldn’t cast to the TV, though live TV worked fine. A great halfway point between Canberra and the Gold Coast.

Rob, the host, is very helpful. The place is basic, but very clean and tidy, and it worked well for my week there on business. It’d be good for an overnight stop too.
