I was so sad when our last morning came that I actually cried. I didn’t want to leave, and I’d love to come back as often as I can. Penny and her partner were wonderful, nothing was too much trouble, and the room felt like a hug. Breakfast was delicious, though a bit more than I could manage.

We had a really enjoyable stay in the African Room. Penny was a generous, kind host and showed us how to spot the local platypus and walk around the grounds. Breakfast was lovely too, especially the fresh-squeezed orange juice. Thank you!

A peaceful rural spot, yet the village is only a short walk away. We spotted a platypus, tree kangaroos and an Azure Kingfisher along the way. Everything was done with such care and was exquisitely thought out.

Penny and Jorg were delightful, with helpful local tips and a generous, delicious breakfast. The countryside setting is very peaceful, just a few minutes from Yungaburra. Penny pointed us to a quiet, almost hidden spot at Petersen’s Creek, where we saw a couple of platypus playing. It was much less crowded than the advertised viewing platform 500 metres away. A real find while exploring the tablelands.

The owners know the local walks well, but also left us to do our own thing, which suited us as we’re private people and often avoid B&Bs. We’re glad we didn’t miss this one. There’s a lovely little walk into town past the platypus creek. A perfect break from Cairns, and we’ll return.
